Adopt
Clay County Cat Care's adoption policy
At Clay County Cat Care, we operate a strict home check-approved adoption policy. In line with ensuring animal welfare, we perform home check interviews with all potential adoptive homes.
Your donation upon adoption will help pay for some of the costs of neutering, microchipping, vaccinating, worm/flea treatment, and veterinary check for the adopted cat or kitten.
The normal veterinary cost of chipping, vaccination, spay/neutering, and treatment in Cornwall is often well in excess of £100, our donation requirement ensures our animals have the best possible start at a reduced cost to the owners.
All our cats are micro-chipped, neutered, flead and wormed and vet checked.
For the entire list of adoption terms and conditions, please contact the rescue by phone or email.
Archie
Archie is a handsome lad who loves to play. He is 16-18 weeks old and is a proper love bug that enjoys lots of attention. He likes the company of other cats and loves birdwatching from the window, so will enjoy a home with a safe outdoor space to explore. He would suit a home with slightly older children as he hasn't quite got the hang of always putting his claws in!

Astrid
Astrid, meaning divinely beautiful in Scandinavian, is a pure bred silver Bengal who is 14 months old. She desperately needs a permanent, settled home as we are her 5th placement in a year. She is a very vocal, friendly girl and in true Bengal style is loving on her terms! She could get along with another friendly cat in the home or a cat friendly dog.
Due to all the upheaval that Astrid has gone through in her short life so far, she may have a few behavioural problems to start with until she settles. For these reasons she will only be homed with an understanding family, willing to work with her so that she can learn to trust and feel safe knowing she won’t be moved to another home after a few months. She really is a majestic cat with beautiful markings and we will only be taking applications from people that have had experience with bengals previously. Astrid is neutered and chipped

Polly, Crystal & Shannon
Meet Polly and Crystal, these two are mother and daughter and together with Shannon came to us sadly when their Daddy suddenly and unexpectedly passed away last month.
You probably remember the post going out last month after Polly was brought to us by a lovely police officer from Devon & Cornwall Police on the Saturday evening after they had to force entry to the property and found their daddy passed away.
Polly is the friendliest so she was the only one that made herself aware she was there. Then 4 days later we had a call from a lovely member of the family who informed us that, in fact there were 3 cats in the property.
This engaged a massive amount of panic for the family and us, as at this point the girls had been alone for 4 days since we took Polly and up to 5 days prior as they believe this is when their daddy died, so I contacted the Police and asked for access to the house to look for the other 2 cats.
Unfortunately that Wednesday they couldn’t be located in the property and we put a plea out for the residents of Lostwithiel to check shed and outhouses and contact us if they seen the girls. These is when the eagle eyed neighbour noticed both were this in the property the following day, it took us till Friday to regain access as there were a few issues that arose but finally we were able to reunite them.
Crystal is a 10 year old pedigree cream Dexon Rex and is the mum of Polly who is a 5 years old Devon Rex who is slightly on the larger side so will new to remain on strict diet to help her lose some of this excess weight, unfortunately we don’t have an age on Shannon as we are still trying to locate her veterinary records, but she is believed to be around 6/7 years old.
These girls were their dads world and they were everything to him, we are helping to pack up the house, due to family not living close and unable to do this, since rescuing the girls I have built up a lovely friendship with the family and we have been able to see, how much these cats meant to their dad.
We know it’s asking a lot but we would ideally prefer to home these girls as a trio, so they can stay together as they have a beautiful bond and we really wouldn’t want to break this and spilt them, they have been through enough already in the last month.
Please if you could offer these 3 a forever home together, get in touch.

Sabbath
We are looking for a very special home for Sabbath, with previous experience of Birman or pedigree longhaired cats being essential. Sabbath has had a tough start to his life, so we will only place him with the family we feel best suits him. We are expecting a high number of enquiries and we will go through all applications fairly to give everyone a fair chance, so please read all the information carefully and be patient with us!
Sabbath is a blue tabby point Birman, approximately 2/3 years old. He came into our care along with his brother Lucifer after their owner left them with a friend to look after for a week while they went away on holiday. Unfortunately they never returned for their cats and they couldn’t remain with the friend, so we were asked to help.
They both came in unwell, Lucifer with an undiagnosed severe medical condition called Hydrocephalus, which was what primarily took his life 3/4 weeks after arriving with us.
Apparently the pair are not related, but as we don’t have a full medical history on them we can not guarantee they were not brothers as they are the same age.
Sabbath has been given a full health check and has no issues, barring a spat of cat flu after losing Lucifer and an ear infection which he is currently under treatment for. He will be fully treated before leaving for his new home. He will also need to remain on a digestive care diet for the initial rehoming period.
Sabbath is a chatty little man who adores the company of humans. He likes his comforts especially a soft warm bed whilst his fur is growing out and loves getting kisses to the top of his head!

Tamar
Tamar is a lovely older girl looking for a quiet, peaceful retirement home where she can enjoy a comfy spot and some love and affection. She went missing from her home in Liskeard 14 months ago and then eventually appeared at a vets, where she was scanned for a microchip and her owner was contacted. Unfortunately due to a change in their circumstances they were unable to take her back. They weren't able to find the people who had been taking care of her, so she was surrendered to us.
Tamar's perfect home would preferably be one with adults only, who will provide her patience and understanding so that she can settle into her new environment .
