ADOPT
Clay County Cat Care's adoption policy
At Clay County Cat Care, we operate a strict home check-approved adoption policy. In line with ensuring animal welfare, we perform home check interviews with all potential adoptive homes.
Your donation upon adoption will help pay for some of the costs of neutering, microchipping, vaccinating, worm/flea treatment, and veterinary check for the adopted cat or kitten.
The normal veterinary cost of chipping, vaccination, spay/neutering, and treatment in Cornwall is often well in excess of £100, our donation requirement ensures our animals have the best possible start at a reduced cost to the owners.
All our cats are micro-chipped, neutered, flead and wormed and vet checked.
For the entire list of adoption terms and conditions, please contact the rescue by phone or email.
BELLE
Meet Belle!
Gizmo and Belle are both 8 years old and are brother and sister. They were re-homed from us a few years ago, but unfortunately they are once again looking for a loving home where they can stay together.
If you’re looking to welcome not one, but two wonderful cats into your home, Gizmo and Belle are ready to fill your life with double the love and companionship! They deserve tons of affection after having to fend for themselves for a couple of weeks after their owner had sadly passed away, but we are sure that they will both quickly regain their confidence with a little patience and love.

She has come from a wonderful, loving environment and is used to human companionship and adoration!
She loves chatting to you and will be an affectionate lap cat with her sweet, gentle nature. She prefers the company of humans so would suit an indoor home without any other cats, where she can enjoy many more years of happiness.

Meet Opie!
Opie is a shy, gentle boy who would thrive in a quieter home with no young children. He needs time to come out of his shell and get used to his surroundings, but he loves human companionship and having a fuss. He is having a bit of a hard time at the rescue being with some of the other more confident cats, but we’re sure he will come into his own given the chance!
He will need a little hiding place to start with to help him settle into his new environment, but he will soon reward you with lots of love and will be a wonderful addition to your home.

POLLY, CRYSTAL AND SHANNON
Meet Polly and Crystal, these 2 are mother and daughter and together with Shannon came to us sadly when their Daddy suddenly and unexpectedly passed away last month.
You probably remember the post going out last month after Polly was brought to us by a lovely police officer from Devon & Cornwall Police on the Saturday evening after they had to force entry to the property and found thier daddy passed away.
Polly is the friendliest so she was the only one that made herself aware she was there. Then 4 days later we had a call from a lovely member of the family who informed us that, in fact there were 3 cats in the property.
This engaged a massive amount of panic for the family and us, as at this point the girls had been alone for 4 days since we took Polly and up to 5 days prior as they believe this is when thier daddy died, so I contacted the Police and asked for access to the house to look for the other 2 cats.
Unfortunately that Wednesday they couldn’t be located in the property and we put a plea out for the residents of Lostwithiel to check shed and outhouses and contact us if they seen the girls. These is when the eagle eyed neighbour noticed both were this in the property the following day, it took us till Friday to regain access as there were a few issues that arose but finally we were able to reunite them.
Crystal is a 10 year old pedigree cream Dexon Rex and is the mum of Polly who is a 5 years old Devon Rex who is slightly on the larger side so will new to remain on strict diet to help her lose some of this excess weight, unfortunately we don’t have an age on Shannon as we are still trying to locate her veterinary records, but she is believed to be around 6/7 years old.
These girls were thier dads world and they were everything to him, we are helping to pack up the house, due to family not living close and unable to do this, since rescuing the girls I have built up a lovely friendship with the family and we have been able to see, how much these cats meant to their dad.
We know it’s asking a lot but we would ideally prefer to home these girls as a trio, so they can stay together as they have a beautiful bond and we really wouldn’t want to break this and spilt them, they have been through enough already in the last month.
Please if you could offer these 3 a forever home together, get in touch
To find out more about there’s adoption requirements or if you think you can give all three a safe and loving home, please email adopt@claycountycatcare.com
SABBATH
Meet Sabbath
We are looking for a very special home for Sabbath, with previous experience of Birman or pedigree longhaired cats being essential. Sabbath has had a tough start to his life, so we will only place him with the family we feel best suits him. We are expecting a high number of enquiries and we will go through all applications fairly to give everyone a fair chance, so please read all the information carefully and be patient with us!
Sabbath is a blue tabby point Birman, approximately 2/3 years old. He came into our care along with his brother Lucifer after their owner left them with a friend to look after for a week while they went away on holiday. Unfortunately they never returned for their cats and they couldn’t remain with the friend, so we were asked to help.
They both came in unwell, Lucifer with an undiagnosed severe medical condition called Hydrocephalus, which was what primarily took his life 3/4 weeks after arriving with us.
Apparently the pair are not related, but as we don’t have a full medical history on them we can not guarantee they were not brothers as they are the same age.
Sabbath has been given a full health check and has no issues, barring a spat of cat flu after losing Lucifer and an ear infection which he is currently under treatment for. He will be fully treated before leaving for his new home. He will also need to remain on a digestive care diet for the initial rehoming period.
Sabbath is a chatty little man who adores the company of humans. He likes his comforts especially a soft warm bed whilst his fur is growing out and loves getting kisses to the top of his head!
