Clay County Cat Care's adoption policy

At Clay County Cat Care, we operate a strict home check-approved adoption policy. In line with ensuring animal welfare, we perform home check interviews with all potential adoptive homes.

Your donation upon adoption will help pay for some of the costs of neutering, microchipping, vaccinating, worm/flea treatment, and veterinary check for the adopted cat or kitten.

The normal veterinary cost of chipping, vaccination, spay/neutering, and treatment in Cornwall is often well in excess of £100, our donation requirement ensures our animals have the best possible start at a reduced cost to the owners.

All our cats are micro-chipped, neutered, flead and wormed and vet checked.

For the entire list of adoption terms and conditions, please contact the rescue by phone or email.

Barry

Barry

Meet Barry!

Barry is 7 years old and has completely stolen all of our hearts at the rescue! He is a big, gentle boy with a huge heart and a ton of love to give! He was rescued from the streets of Essex and is now looking for a forever home where he can be loved and cared for. He is a super affectionate cat who loves attention, cuddles and will show you what a purr machine he is!

Barry has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). This means he must be kept indoors or have access to a fully enclosed and secure garden to keep him safe and healthy. FIV+ means a cat's immune system is not as strong as others - he is not currently on any medication or needs to be. He just needs to be given a good diet and have annual vaccinations (like all cats).

FIV cats can live long, happy lives - they just need a little extra care and consideration.

We would love to find him a home where he is the only cat, or he can live with other FIV positive kitties or possibly with other non-aggressive cats

Dyson

Dyson

Meet Dyson!

Dyson is an extremely pretty sable coloured Burmese who is approximately 1-2 years old. She was found outside straying and the people who found her named her Dyson as she was very hungry and would hoover up all her food! She is a placid little cat, who is very sweet and playful and she loves her playtime. She relishes all the adoration and fuss from the volunteers at the rescue, but although she is very friendly with humans, she is not so keen on other female cats.
We are looking for a forever home for Dyson with a safe enclosed garden, away from any main roads and an owner with previous experience of Burmese or pedigree cats.

They’re besties who adore belly rubs, treats, and hanging out together.

Joey and Gem are bonded and have spent their whole lives side by side, they are only looking for a forever home together. Marley

Marley

Meet Marley!

We were contacted about Marley by Anna from Cats Galore in Essex. She was at a vets due to be put to sleep by her owner because her grown son had become allergic to cats and when he visited her she didn’t want him to become unwell. Anna phoned us and we offered her a rescue space as she was due to be euthanised immediately.

Marley is such a loving and friendly cat once she trusts you, but she has been through a big upheaval so will be timid to start with. Her confidence is growing daily and she loves being brushed! She is 8 years old and is looking for a calm home, with no other cats or young children. A kind older child might be okay if they’re gentle and respectful of her needs.

Otis

Otis

Meet Otis!

Otis is approximately 4-5 years old and came in as a stray. He is a quiet, gentle cat but loves having his face and ears rubbed. We believe he must have been someone’s house cat at one time, but lost faith in humans. Otis is gaining that trust back now and deserves to find a home with someone patient, loving and kind until he is confident in his new surroundings.

He loves fresh air so a cat proofed garden or catio would be preferred, with a home away from busy roads.

FOSTER HOME NEEDED!

We are looking for a special foster home to help with managing the diet and exercise for one of our cats. We have a very overweight kitty at the rescue surrendered to us weighing nearly 10kg! We have had him on a special diet to help him lose weight and have been making sure he gets exercise, but he is not very keen on it and would rather be in his bed!
He has had a health check at the vets and is in good health, but as overweight cats are at increased risk of various health problems, it’s important he safely loses some weight.

Fisch is a huge cat full of love, he is very affectionate and will give you amazing cuddles. As this may be a longer term commitment to a potential foster, we will need someone who has time and patience to work with him and has space for him to move around. It will be important to manage his food and encourage regular activity.

Please get in touch if you can help Fisch!

please email foster@claycountycatcare.com

Smokey

Smokey

Meet Smokey!

Handsome Smokey is looking for a very special forever home! He is a gorgeous Persian x Snowshoe and is 5 years old. Unfortunately Smokey has a heart condition that will require him to be on medication permanently to manage it. His ideal family will need to be committed to ensuring he receives the necessary veterinary care and medication to keep him healthy for years to come. The adoption team can discuss his requirements with you plus his full medical history.

Smokey is a happy, loving boy who may be a little nervous to start with, but once he feels safe and secure he will take his medication easily. He is used to being around other cats, but we would prefer him not to be in a household with a lot of others to make sure he doesn’t get too stressed.

If you have a calm and loving home, and you are prepared to give this sweet boy the life he needs, please consider opening your heart to Smokey.
